Silver Reliquary Pendant

Post Medieval Silver Reliquary Pendant

A fabricated silver pendant comprising a deep lidded case with ropework band to the rim and suspension loop, depicting on one face a cross between two rosettes with surrounding wreath and on the reverse a sunrise over a chalice with a cross above, on a pecked background within a punched-point border; within the reliquary, a carved wooden disc depicting a crowned monarch with sword and sceptre inside a curtained frame, covered in gold leaf and painted with red and black detailing; the lid painted on the inner face with a robed nimbate figure holding a plant-stem; Spanish colonial workmanship.
