Description:
1797 AD. 'Cartwheel' Issue. Obv: profile bust right with GEORGIUS III D G REX incuse legend. Rev: Britannia seated left with BRITANNIA 1797 incuse legend. Countermarked several times both sides with the unattributed 'crown over IS' mark in two forms, one within a dentilled cartouche (this form not mentioned in Scott) and also with two large 'pellets' on obverse rim below and right of bust (to signify a unit of weight - for 2 ounces?).

Measurements:
56.65 grams.

Condition:
Very fine; coin and marks, evenly toned.

Comments notes:
Interesting. Possibly marked for use as a weight?
