BYZANTINE BRONZE OPENWORK CENSER
6TH-12TH CENTURY AD
7" (633 grams, 18cm).

A discoid pan with three splayed claw feet, openwork scrolled dome with drum-shaped upper surmounted by a bird; chain attached to the bird's back, separate hinge-lugs attached to the frame.

PROVENANCE:
From an important English collection; acquired in the 1990s.
