Roman Carausius - Virtus Radiate Lion Denarius
286-287 AD, London mint. Obv: IMP CARAVSIVS P F AV, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: VIR-TVS SAE-C, radiate lion walking left, holding thunderbolt in its jaws. Mintmark RSR in exergue. Extremely fine; excellent detail, some mint bloom present. Extremely rare (one other specimen believed in private hands).(4.30 grams.).
