NATURAL HISTORY - EDMONTOSAURUS DINOSAUR FOSSIL VERTEBRA
UPPER CRETACEOUS PERIOD, 76-75 MILLION YEARS BP
5 1/4" (237 grams, 13.5cm).

An Edmontosaurus annectens dinosaur vertebra including the neural arch from the Hell Creek Formation, South Dakota, U.S.A.

PROVENANCE:
From the Pradi Collection, Boston, USA; acquired during 1980s.

FOOTNOTES:
Edmontosaurus was widely distributed across western North America. The distribution of Edmontosaurus fossils suggests that it preferred coasts and coastal plains. It was a herbivore that could move on both two legs and four. Because it is known from several bone beds, Edmontosaurus is thought to have lived in groups, and may have been migratory as well.
