Description:
Circa 5th-6th century AD. A Saxon copper-alloy, gilded button brooch; an unusual example of Avent and Evison’s Class L, with a Style I zoomorph in place of the normal mask or helmet.

Measurements:
16.5 mm; 2.70 grams.

Condition:
Fine with most of the gilding remaining, traces of the iron pin at the spring-lug and slight loss to the catchplate.
