Description:
A polished section slice of the meterorite, discovered in 1967; the cut surfaces showing the disctinctive crystallization; with the exterior surface showing the full perimeter of the slice.

Measurements:
1.80 Kg; 470 mm long.

Condition:
Superb. Very rare.

Provenance:
Magadan district, USSR. The main mass of 272.3 kg was found in June 1967 by the geologist F. A. Mednikov.

Comments notes:
Seymchan belongs to Main Group pallasites but it is considered anomalous due to its high Iridium content. Before the discovery of its pallasitic structure it had been classified as IIE anomalous coarse octahedrite. Seymchan is considered a stable and rust-resistant pallasite.
