Roman Gold Disc Pendant with Inlay and Chain Necklace > Lot No. 1092
Description:
A fine Late Roman necklace comprising a disc pendant, decorated with a central lozenge containing a red glass or garnet inlay, trefoil designs to each point, against a green glass inlaid background, four roundels in between, the border with small circular motifs and raised rim; to the reverse, an applied bar, a loop to one end with chain attached, to the other, a hook for fastening; the chain with figure-of-eight links each formed from a single piece of gold wire.
