BYZANTINE GOLD EPIGRAPHIC MARRIAGE RING
4TH CENTURY AD
3/4" (12 grams, 21mm overall, 18.18mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 8, Europe 17.15, Japan 16)).

A D-section hoop with split and scrolled ends supporting a rectangular bezel with intaglio design of two busts with diadems facing each other with a cross and orb between; dextrograde Greek text 'ΖυΓΟC ΑΗΝΟCIOC' (zygos meaning a union or joining) with lunate sigmas.

From the Walsh Miller collection, Florida, USA.
