PARTHIAN GOLD FILIGREE AND GARNET EARRINGS
(Gold and garnet, 31.5 grams total, 59.7 mm.).

Circa 2nd century BC-1st century AD. A pair of conical pendant earrings comprising a pair of hinged semicircular loops attached to four facing plates (a disc cloison; a filigree disc with heart-shaped cloisons; a lozengiform cloison; a small disc surmounted by lanceolate cloisons) above the domed lid of the conical pendant with six ovoid cloisons on the outer faces, with interstitial disc cloisons above, descending to a spherical finial; all cloisons set with cut garnets (one lost in antiquity) and executed in pelleted filigree ropework. [2]
