Description:
1056-1059 AD. Cut halfpenny Mule of BMC VII (Pointed Helmet) and BMC IX (Sovereign/Eagles) types, Thetford mint, uncertain moneyer. Obverse: Pointed Helmet type with helmeted bust right with +EDPE[.......] legend. Reverse: Eagles type with [........]AONDEDI[?] legend. A moneyer Blachere (BLACERE) is known for the Eagles reverse type at this mint and a form of his name as BLACERA is known for him on a Hammer Coss reverse die. Alternatively, the moneyer Atsurr (ARSERA) is also known for the Hammer Cross type. Unique.
Grade condition:
Good fine and better, with a slight bend to the flan.
