NEAR EASTERN LURISTAN BRONZE MASTER OF ANIMALS SCEPTRE FINIAL
BRONZE AGE, 1250-650 BC
17" (565 grams, 43 cm including stand).

A cast sceptre finial comprising a tubular bulb with notched and ribbed collar, columnar shaft surmounted by a bifacial Master of Animals figurine formed as two canines on hindlegs flanking a stylised human face and second mask above; supplied with a custom-made stand.

PROVENANCE:
Ex Midlands collection; formerly with a Surrey gentleman; acquired on the English art market prior to 1980.
