Description:
C.1136-c.1145 AD. Irregular 'Southern Variant' Issue penny of Stephen. Southampton mint, moneyer Sanson. Obv: crowned bust right having collar of small annulets at neck with sceptre in front and STEFRNX legend. Rev: voided short cross moline with lis in angles, annulet at centre and [+SANS]ONIONAN[ ] legend. Very rare.
Measurements:
1.01 grams.
Condition:
About very fine or better for this poorly struck series, with clear bust and details; some minor surface scratches and struck a little off-centre.
