Description:
Circa 3rd century AD. A large strong unglazed ceramic mixing-bowl with a grit-roughened interior, heavy flange and pouring spout.

Measurements:
1.125 Kg, 315 mm (12.5 inches).

Condition:
Very fine condition, cleaned and conserved.

Provenance:
From an old English collection, found North Africa.

Comments notes:
Roman tastes in food favoured the use of sauces, relishes and subtly-blended herbs and spices; such ingredients often had to be finely ground in mortaria.
