39-40 AD. AE Sestertius. Obv: C CAESAR DIVI AVG PRON AVG P M TR P IIII PP, Pietas seated left, holding patera, left elbow resting on small facing statue, PIETAS below. Rev:
DIVO AVG S-C to left and right of garlanded, hexastyle temple of Divus Augustus, before which Caligula stands left, sacrificing at altar, one attendant leads a bull to the altar, the other holds a patera.
Measurements:
Copper-alloy, 26.82 grams.
Condition:
About fine, scarce.
