Description:
'Thesaurus Numismatum e Musaeo Caroli Patini Doctoris Medici Parisiensis' by Caroli (Charles) Patini, Amsterdam, 1672. Fine engraved portrait fp (with salutation by I. H. Boeclerus), title, dedication, preface, 220 pages (text in Latin) with numerous engraved illustrations of Roman coins throughout and engraved headers to chapter pages, 19th century full calf, five ribs, covers with gilt panel. 4to. Scarce.

Grade condition:
Light browning, small paper tear to p. 156. Binding with some abrasion to calf, minor hinge splits and spine wear. Two old ink ownership inscriptions. Generally a very good and tight copy.

Ex Bonhams Printed Books 5156, June 1991, lot 179 (with original Bonhams invoice and lot 179 description extracted from catalogue).

Comments notes:
The frontispiece a wonderful depiction of a 17th century numismatist, with his books, coin cabinet and curios.
