Description:
Circa 2nd century AD. A Roman plate brooch with enamelled champ levé ornament; the eye detailed with red enamel surround; the body divided into two blue-green enamel crescents; the tail a red enamel pelta; remains of pin-lugs and catchplate on the reverse.
Measurements:
3 grams, 28 mm.
Condition:
Fine; enamel partly degraded. Rare.
