Silver-Gilt Byzantine Style Buckle > Lot No. 1193
Description:
A cast silver Byzantine style plate buckle comprising: an elliptical D-section loop with couch to the front edge; triangular tongue with punched point detail to upper face, curved over the leading edge of the loop; the plate rectangular with curved rear edge respecting the disc motif with inlaid niello cruciform foliate design and central square boss; three substantial attachment pegs to the reverse; Balkans workmanship.
