BRITISH VIKING - ALFRED 'IMITATION' - TWO LINE PENNY - SINUN

898-915 AD. Obv: small cross with +EL FR ED RE legend. Rev: legend in two lines SINVN NEFEL for the moneyer Simon with single pellet at centre and two trefoils of pellets at ends between, plus a line and pellet above the VN of the top line. 1.25 grams. Extremely fine; about as struck.

S. 966; N. 475/1. The dies not represented in EMC/SCBI. See EMC 1986.9367 and EMC 1995.0144 for similar examples (different dies) with normal legends.
