MEDIEVAL GILT ZOOMORPHIC STRAP END
15th-16th century AD

A parcel-gilt silver tag or strap end formed as two lozengiform panels separate by a silver bar, each with a cross crosslet motif, foliate rear edge with two domed rivets; pierced lug to the forward edge with beast-head detailing. 1.49 grams, 22mm (1").

Condition
Extremely fine condition.

Provenance
Ex Plumb collection; acquired early 1990s from Bloomsbury coin fair, London; previously in a 1970s collection.
